SMACKDOWN 08/04/09
Welcome to Tuesday Night Smackdown!
You know… There have been a lot of questions lately about why I added the Remnants to the tag team title match at Breaking Point. Before I answer that, let me take you back several years to WCW. Back then we didn’t have 8 titles floating around. We had four…the World Heavyweight Title, the United States Title, the Tag Team Title, and the World Television Title.
What did that mean? That means if you held a title, everyone in the company was gunning for you. You were one of five men in the entire company that held a championship. So long reigns, while not necessarily uncomment, were difficult to accomplish.
During my tenure in WCW, I held the Television title on four different occasions. I was the longest reigning champion in the history of that title. But I didn’t just sit around waiting for(or ducking) challengers. I defended that title each and every week, any and all comers. I was a fighting champion before ‘fighting champion’ was a coined phrase. It actually meant something to be a champion.
Fast forward to today. Miz and Morrison continue to brag about their long reign as champions, and that is not a lie, they did hold the titles for a long time. But when you look closely at this reign, you will see that before the PPV, they only defended those belts twice, and lost one of those matches. Add the Breaking Point title match, they have a 1-2 record when defending those tag team belts that they held so dear.
So I thought it was time for a change. We need more fighting champions here on Smackdown. And I’m going to make that happen. Titles will be defended more often than they have been in the past. It will mean something again to be champion.
Now Miz and Morrison will get another shot at the belts….eventually… but since they didn’t have to work that hard to hold onto those titles, they are going to ‘make up for lost time’ and work their asses off if they want another shot. But they are going to have to work their way up from the bottom. Starting tonight in our opening match.
Thanks for your time, and enjoy the show.

R-Truth's music plays and he makes his way down into the ring with a solemn look on his face. He musters a small smile as he gets in the ring and poses for the fans.
Last week, on Friday 31st July, 2009, at WCWWE Smackdown! presents Breaking Point, I, R-Truth finally used my 5 Chances at Glory contract against WCWWE Champion, Chavo Guerrero. I worked hard for months to get into the right condition to win that belt, and still I came up short. I failed.
Chavo Guerrero did NOT beat me... but that's irrelevant. He didn't have to. Hell, he could have retained even if I had beaten him. I had him in position to beat him and then.. and then... the time limit expired. I failed to win the WCWWE title, and I failed to get my one on one match with MVP. It was, without a shadow of a doubt, the most heartbreaking moment of my professional career.
But I'm not going to come out here and complain to you people. I'm not going to demand a rematch against Chavo. I'm not going to cry until I get my way. I'm going to accept it like a man, and move on.
I didn't win the belt, but after coming so close, I can assure you I'm hungrier than ever to get that belt. And I would like to reassure all my fans, and let them know that I WILL get another chance in the future. It's one of my biggest goals.
I can't get my hands on that belt until September at the earliest... so I have a little time on my hands.
I've long stated my goal is to bring down the Cult of the Light. Me and the rest of the Resistance have been determined to get the job done for months now... and folks, August 2009 spells the end for the Cult.
Way I see it, to kill an animal, you cut off the head. MVP is the head of the Cult. MVP, I can't face you at Summerslam any more, but MVP, I challenge you to come out here right now and we'll finish this Cult of the Light nonsense once and for all!
Orton slowly walks out to the ring with a slight smirk on his face.
R-Truth you are so pathetic. at Breaking Point you couyldn't get the job done and now you're calling out the number one contender to the WCWWE Championship just so you can stay relevant, maybe grab a little piece of his success by confronting him in this very ring. Truth it's hard to watch. For a guy who started this year on a role, you had a guaranteed shot at the WCWWE title, you were in a match to crown number one contender for the main event of Wrestlemania....then it all went downhill for you didn't it? You failed to get past the qualifying round in King of the Ring, You failed to win the six pack challenge to get a WCWWE title shot against Shawn Michaels and then you failed to beat Chavo for the WCWWE title. You're just a huge failure aren't you Ron?
It's not just WCWWE you've been a failure your whole life. You spent the majority of your childhood behind bars for doing god knows what. You're first stunt in this company consisted of a few hardcore title reigns and a crap[py tag team with Road Dogg. Then you went and spent time on the indys for 10 dollars a night before being allowed back into WCWWE. Then you had to wear a dress and go on a televised date with Pat Patterson before finally getting rewarded with a WCWWE title shot. Your whole life is just one big failure.
On the other hand I am a 3-time WCWWE Champion. I'm one of the most successful stars of my generation and I actually won my match last night. So what the hell makes you think YOU should be even so much as sniffing a shot at the WCWWE title. I've stood back for too long. It doesn't matter if Chavo or MVP wins at Summerslam I'll be the next challenger and I'll be the new champion. And then the Age of Orton will come back from hiatus and rule this company once again while you R-Truth will do what you do best and that is....fail.
So I'm a failure am I?
Orton gets in Truth's face
Yes. Ron listen real hard here because this is the harsh truth, you will never be WCWWE Champion. Never.
Says the man who didn't wrestle at WrestleMania, hasn't done anything in the ring of note since a Tag Team title run, ended by KaneLo, and who LOST in his valiant crusade against his former boss, and my buddy, Triple H inside Hell in a Cell. The same man whose most notable moments of 2009 are mostly attacks on innocent people who have nothing to do with you.
Randy, you've done a lot in the past, but in 2009 you've done nothing of note. Your career is on the decline. And mine is on the up. You see, I've set myself targets, and I will actually accomplish those targets, no matter how long they take me, no matter how much I have to do to make it... within the rules. You take the easy way out, and still you fail.
That said, Randy, would you kindly step out of the ring, and allow me and MVP to settle our differences right here TONIGHT!?
Sure.
Orton turns to leave but quickly turns around and whacks Truth in the forehead with the mic knocking Truth to the ground. Orton gets on his kness and lays into Truth with punches. Truth flips it the other way around and lays into Orton with jabs as security and referees slide into the ring and pull the two apart. Truth breaks free from their grip and jumps on Orton and those holding him. Truth continues the attack on Orton with Orton throwing back punches of his own as a crowd of security, refs and road agents desperately try to seperate the two.

Hey there.
Oh, hey. What's up?
Just wondering if you had any more "incidents" this week.
Not a single one. Well, I did almost run out of toothpaste, but I was able to squeeze the last little bit from the bottom of the tube. Now I'm minty fresh, just like always. See?
*Punk breathes on Beth, causing her to recoil with an amused look on her face*
That you are. So, what are you going to do with that? *she points to the belt* Gonna make any of those changes you were bugging me about all week?
Can't rush these things, you know. I guess I'll keep it the way it is while I decide. It is a pretty nice belt.
Yeah, it is. ...Anyway, what's going on with... those two? We haven't had a chance to talk about--
Ugh. I've been telling you all along that there was something going on there. It's--
No, you haven't.
I haven't?
You avoid the subject of Mickie whenever I bring it up.
Guess it just slipped my mind. But I did know about it all along.
Yeah, okay....
How do you think I got out there so fast?
Heh, you took off like your shirt was on fire when you saw Cena enter the ring area. Pretty impressive after what you'd been through earlier.
Well...
So what are you going to do now?
Do...?
About them! You were able to save Katie at Breaking Point, but who knows what'll happen next time?
Who knows if there'll even be a next time? Let's see what they're up to before getting all crazy.
But we can't--
Right now, I have to focus on my match with MVP later tonight. I still haven't paid him back for what he did a couple months ago...
But--
See you later.
We are going to talk about this again when you get back!
*Beth puts her hands on her hips and glares as Punk walks away*
John Cena and Mickie James come out to the ring together arm in arm, and grab a mic.
So, like, SURPRISE!!!! John Cena and Mickie James. The top male wrestler of this era, and the top female wrestler of this era, together! Who could've guessed it?! So I bet you're all wondering why? Why would we get together? If you think about it, it shouldn't be that hard to figure out.
John is the only guy in the locker room who really gets me, y'know? All the other guys I've been with, they were nice, but I always felt like they were a little intimidated. Especially Kenny, but that's understandable.
But John's not like that. John's not intimidated by anyone. Especially not by you, CM Punk! Punk, you broke my heart. Now, with John and I together at last, we're going to break YOU!
*Micke hands the mic to Cena*
You see, I know usually I'm rapping about one thing or another....But with Mickie, she wants a real man. She wants a man who can take care of her.....and trust me, I've tooken good care of her....
CM Punk, I don't know what happened between you and My Girl, and quite frankly I don't care.....Obviously though, if you're not man enough to handle Mickie.....You're not man enough to fight me....

Well, it happened. I fought for Queen and country, and I let them down. I no longer represent Her Majesty anymore. Instead, some greasy tattooed pillock has my belt. He claims that luck is for losers, but at Breaking Point, he was the luckiest man in the building.
I shall not rest until I make Her Majesty proud again. I've worked too bloody hard showing these miscreants what a man of true dignity and honour is; I've given too much for this company to be humilated by a lowlife like CM Punk. I shall prove myself all over again, regardless of how I have to do it.
Randy Orton. The so-called "viper". Well Randy, as you make your slow walk to the ring to face me, just remember that I'm going to become a champion again by any means necessary. You claim to be a dangerous man, and you say that people should fear you, but I never back down from a fight. So just be aware that tonight, you're going to be the first victim of a little blast from the past.
