NWC Crunch Time Episode One
*Crunch Time opens with Ric Flair making his way to the ring*
Ric Flair: “Whooo! Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the first episode of NWC Crunch Time! Tonight, you’re gonna see action, the likes of which you have NEVER seen before! Whooo! But first things first. Running a company like this is a taxing job, and more than I can handle on my own, so allow me to introduce my deputy, or my Enforcer if you will. Arn Anderson, come on down!”
*Anderson enters to a rousing ovation*
Arn Anderson: “Well Naitch, it’s good to be here tonight. And it’s even better to be standing side by side with you, as we enter a new chapter in our professional careers.
*Flair and Anderson hug*
Anderson: “But now, enough of that mushy stuff! Ric, you asked me to be your Enforcer, and keep order around here, and that’s exactly what I intend to do. Now, first order of business, we need a Champion! And that’s where I come in. Tonight, we’re gonna have ourselves a 20 man battle royal! And this battle royal will determine the seedings of the NWC Championship Tournament! Here’s how it’ll go down. After the first 5 guys have been eliminated, the remaining 15 will be seeded based on when they’re eliminated. So the sixth guy eliminated is seeded number 15, and so on. Everyone will be paired up based on their number, with the winner receiving a bye into the second round. The finals of the tournament will take place at the National Wrestling Council’s first Pay-Per-View event, Rite of Passage, where we will crown the first NWC World Heavyweight Champion!”
*The crowd erupts as Arn and Flair make their way to the back*
Joey Styles: “Ladies and gentlemen, thank you for joining us for the first episode of Crunch Time. I’m Joey Styles, and joining me is the self proclaimed King of Old School, Steve Corino.”
Steve Corino: “Joey, can you feel the anticipation in the air? Tonight is going to be a night to remember.”
*The WolfPac’s music plays, and Kevin Nash walks over to the announce booth*
Kevin Nash: “You mean to tell me there was a party goin’ on, and nobody invited Big Sexy to the party?!”
Styles: “Well Kevin, you certainly are your own party, but what you brings you out here?”
Nash: “Well, when Flair picked Double A to be his second in command, it left him short an announcer, so here I am! Corino, I’m a trained professional, so follow my lead, and you’ll do just fine.”
Corino: “Nash, the last thing I need is YOU telling ME how to do my job. Especially since jobbing is a foreign concept to you!”
*Nash grabs Corino by the collar, but Styles breaks it up*
Styles: “Ladies and gentlemen, it’s time to go to the ring for our first match of the evening, Ryan Reeves V. Charlie Haas!”
Ryan Reeves V. Charlie Haas
Reeves and Haas lock up, with Reeves easily tossing Haas to mat. Haas gets up and calls for a test of strength. Reeves overpowers Haas, and forces him back down to the mat. He applies a rear chinlock, making sure to put all his weight on Haas’ back. Haas somehow makes it to the ropes, and referee Jimmy Korderas forces a break. Reeves clubs away at Haas, focusing his attack on the back. Reeves continues to work over Haas, hitting an overhead belly to belly suplex. With Haas writhing on the mat, Reeves goes for the kill, lifting up Haas for the Silverback Attack, but as he get’s Haas in the air, Haas shifts his weight, and falls on top of Reeves, but only gets a 2-count. Reeves grabs Haas and throws him into the corner and charges, but Haas moves out of the way, causing Reeves to crash into the corner. As a dazed Reeves stumbles out of the corner, Haas rolls him up for a 3-count.
Bobby Cruise: “Here is your winner, Charlie Haas!”
As Haas celebrates his huge win, Reeves clothesline’s him from behind and locks in a bear hug. Korderas tries to pry Reeves off, but is forced to call in other officials. Reeves finally releases the hold and stomps away, as Haas lies on the mat, broken, beaten, but victorious.
Styles: “What a major upset we just saw here, folks!”
Nash: “Yeah, Haas won, and Reeves was upset!”
Corino: “Well, upset or not, Reeves is one of the brightest young stars in the NWC, and I have no doubt that he’ll bounce back from this.”
Styles: “Our colleague, Lillian Garcia is standing by with Mike Quackenbush. Lillian?”
Lillian Garcia: “Thanks Joey. I’m standing here with last minute signee, Mike Quackenbush. Now Mike, you found out this afternoon that you would be competing in the big 20-man battle royal tonight. How does it feel, knowing that you could potentially be the first NWC World Heavyweight Champion?”
Mike Quackenbush: “Well, Lillian. I’ll be honest with you, I’m a little nervous. I mean, look at some of the names in this thing. The Undertaker. Scott Steiner. CM Punk. Big Van Vader. Masahiro Chono. Takeshi Morishima. Jamie Noble. All former World Champions. To be fighting alongside them is what my entire career has been building to, and I plan to make the most of this opportunity.”
Lillian: “Thank you Mike. Back to you, guys.”
Joey: “Well, tonight’s battle royal will certainly be historic, but speaking of historic, the participants in our next match definitely know something about history, considering their roots.”
Corino: “Members of the famous Hart wrestling family, and students of the Dungeon, Teddy Hart and Harry Smith are good partners, but even better opponents, as we’re about to see.”
Nash: “The first show, and this is Flair’s idea of groundbreaking?! I’ll be amazed if we make it to episode 2!”
Styles: “Will you show some respect?! Ladies and gentlemen, it’s time for Teddy Hart to take on his tag team partner and cousin, Harry Smith!”
Harry Smith V. Teddy Hart
They shake hands before Scott Armstrong signals for the bell. Smith and Hart tie up, and jockey for position, with neither gaining a real advantage. They lock up again, and Smith shoves Hart into the corner. Hart shoves Smith back, and they get in each other’s face. Hart slaps Smith, who responds with a big right hand, knocking Hart to the mat. Smith yanks his partner up by the hair and tosses him into the ropes, and catches him on the rebound with a scoop slam, getting a 1-count. Smith pulls Teddy up and goes for a vertical suplex, but Teddy slips out and surprise’s his cousin with the Hart Rate, getting a 1. For the next 10 minutes, the action goes back and forth, with neither man holding the advantage for longer than a few minutes.
Cruise: “1 minute remains in the time limit!”
Hart whips Smith into the ropes, and Smith comes back with a clothesline, but only gets a 2-count. Teddy nails a dropsault but can’t put Smith away.
Cruise: “30 seconds remaining!”
Hart and Smith struggle for that one difference making move, as the clock ticks down. Hart hit’s a jawbreaker with 15 seconds to go, but only get’s a 2-count.
Cruise: “10! 9!”
Hart and Smith both go for a clothesline at the same time, and collide, knocking each other to the mat.
Cruise: “5! 4! 3!”
Both men struggle to pull themselves up.
*Bell rings*
Cruise: “Ladies and gentlemen, the time limit for this match has expired. This match will end in a draw!”
As the crowd voices their disapproval, Smith and Hart, now on their feet, stare each other down, before embracing. The crowd cheers and begins chanting “Five More Minutes!” Suddenly, KENTA nails Smith from behind with a springboard dropkick! Teddy tries to help his partner, but get’s caught out of nowhere by a superkick from Mistico! KENTA and Mistico lay a beating on Hart and Smith, as Jim Mitchell appears at ringside, cackling at the scene. On Mitchell’s order, KENTA hit’s the G2S on Smith, while Mistico locks Hart in La Mistica. It takes several officials, and a snap of Mitchell’s fingers to get Mistico to release the hold. Mitchell, KENTA, and Mistico make their way to the back as the officials tend to Hart and Smith.
Styles: “An unbelievable match, and KENTA and Mistico had to go and ruin it!”
Corino: “And what role did Jim Mitchell play in this?”
Nash: “…*Snore*”
*Corino slaps Nash upside the head*
Nash: “Who, what?! Oh, is it over?”
Corino: “I can’t believe you slept through a match like that! What the hell is wrong with you?!”
Nash: “You wanna go, Old School?! C’mon, right here, let’s do this!”
Styles: “Gentlemen, that is ENOUGH! Let’s go backstage to Lillian.”
Lillian: “I’m here with Santino Marella. Santino, tonight you will compete in the big 20 man battle royal. What are your thoughts about this potentially career changing match?”
Santino: “What-a do you mean, “What-a are your-a thoughts?!” My-a thoughts are this! I, SantinoMarella, will throw everybody else-a out of the ring and-a move on to become-a the NWC Champione! Those-a are my thoughts!”
Lillian: “Back to you at ringside.”
Joey: “Are next match is a showcase of the beautiful ladies of the NWC. Let’s go to the ring!”
Mickie James V. Taylor Wilde
Taylor and Mickie exchange holds at the beginning, with the more experienced Mickie James taking the upper hand. Mickie locks Taylor in a hammerlock, and starts slamming her knees into Taylor’s back. Taylor fights out of it, and starts to mount a comeback, culminating with a German suplex attempt, which Mickie flips out of. When Taylor turns around, she walks right into a Mick Kick. Mickie get’s the 1-2-3.
Cruise: “Here is your winner, Mickie James!”
Styles: “And Mickie James with a very impressive victory here on Crunch Time!”
Corino: “This beautiful young lady has a bright young future here in the National Wrestling Council, that’s for sure.”
Nash: “I wonder how Taylor’s gonna deal with losing her first match, though.”
Styles: “Well, only time will be able to tell us that. Now, we have our big 20 man battle royal coming up momentarily. Predictions, guys?”
Nash: “I’ve gotta go with Vader. He’s the biggest guy in there, and he’s been to the top of the mountain before.”
Corino: “I’ll tell you later.”
Joey: “Well, the time has arrived, so let’s get to it! Bobby Cruise, take it away!”
Cruise: Ladies and gentlemen, the following contest is the 20 Man Over The Top Rope Battle Royal!

(7)Mistico V. (10)Masahiro Chono
Styles: “So there you have it folks, the brackets for the tournament that will determine the very first National Wrestling Council Champion. Ladies and gentlemen, I’m Joey Styles. For Kevin Nash and Steve Corino, good night from NWC Crunch Time!”
NWC Crunch Time Episode Two
The show opens with the highlights of last week’s first episode, and we head into the arena
Joey Styles: Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to NWC Crunch Time! Joey Styles here at ringside, along with the self-proclaimed King of Old School, Steve Corino, and Big Sexy Kevin Nash. Tonight, we have a hell of a show for you!
Steve Corino: That’s right. Tonight, we have the first round of the NWC World Heavyweight Championship Tournament. A tournament that I, of course, will win.
Kevin Nash: Right. Also, Mike Quackenbush will be joining us live in the arena.
Styles: So let’s take it down to Bobby Cruise for our opening match.
Bobby Cruise: This match is set for one fall and it is an opening round match in the NWC World Heavyweight Championship Tournament.
Mistico w/ Jim Mitchell V. Masahiro Chono
Prior to the match, Mitchell takes the mic.
Mitchell: What you people saw last week was the beginning of change. Men like Mistico and KENTA are tired of being looked down upon because of their size or Nationality. It’s time for them to rise up and face down the naysayers, and put them in their place! The time for an uprising has come! You can either stand with us, or be trampled under our feet! HAHAHA!!!
Mistico and Chono have a good 10 minute match, with Mistico dominating much of it. During the closing moments, however, Mistico goes for a springboard dropkick, only for Chono to step out of way, causing Mistico to crash to the mat. Chono quickly applies the STF. Mistico is about to tap, but Mitchell jumps on the ring apron, drawing referee Scott Armstrong’s attention away from the match. KENTA enters and nails Chono with the Busaiku Knee Kick, and rolls Mistico on top. Armstrong turns around and counts the pin. 1-2-3.
Here is your winner, Mistico!
Mistico and KENTA continue to put the boots to Chono after the match, but The Great Muta runs down to make the save. As KENTA, Mistico, and Mitchell bail, Muta helps Chono to his feet, only for Chono to push him away. Chono and Muta exit separately.
Styles: Well, Chono getting some needed, but apparently unwanted assistance there from The Great Muta.
Corino: Chono is a very proud veteran of the squared circle, and doesn’t need Muta’s help in schooling those young punks, KENTA and Mistico.
Styles: Well, regardless, Chono was in a bad way there and…
Nash: Forget about whether Chono needed or wanted the help. The fact of matter is this: Mistico is one win closer to becoming the first NWC World Heavyweight Champion.
Styles: True, but regardless of who wins this next match, Mistico is going to have his work cut out for him in the second round.
The Undertaker V. Gregory Helms
Undertaker is dominant, brushing off every bit of offense Helms throws at him, finishing him off quickly with a Tombstone Piledriver.
Cruise: Here is your winner, The Undertaker!
Styles: And The Undertaker continues to show why he is one of this business’s most popular and enduring stars.
Corino: And now it’s time for me to show the world why my star will continue to shine brightly for years to come!
Corino get’s up and enters the ring
Lillian Garcia: Hey everyone! Lillian Garcia here, and I’m standing next to the monstrous, scary Ryan Reeves. Ryan, last week, you appeared to have Charlie Haas right where you wanted him, only for him to pull out an unexpected win at the end. Afterwards, we saw you take out your frustration on Haas, with a frightening beating.
Ryan Reeves: Charlie Haas, I took it easy on you last week. But next week, Arn Anderson has sanctioned a rematch between us, and this time, I won’t be so nice.
Steve Corino V. Scott Norton
Corino and Norton lock up and immediately begin hammering away at each other. Norton tries to dominate with high impact moves, while Corino tries to outwrestle the big man. For 14 minutes, the two give the crowd a show to remember, and as the 15 minute time limit ticks down, Norton goes for a belly to belly, only to see it countered into the Old School Expulsion, allowing Corino to pick up the win with 3 seconds left on the clock.
Cruise: Here is your winner, The King of Old School, Steve Corino!
Lillian: Folks, I’m standing outside the locker room, where we understand some sort of commotion has just taken place. Hopefully we can find out just what has…
EMTs wheel a stretcher out of the locker room. The camera zooms in so that we can see Drew McIntyre on the stretcher.
Styles: Well, fans. We’re at a loss to explain what just happened here. Apparently, Drew McIntyre was attacked backstage, but his assailant is unknown at this time.
Nash: Whoever it was has a lot of explaining to do, as attacking talent like that just isn’t cool.
Corino returns to the booth
Corino: Did you guys see that?! One down, 3 to go. Whoever faces me in the next round, I don’t like your chances, pal.
Psychosis’s music hits
Styles: Well, you won’t have to wait too long to find out who you’re facing next, because Psychosis V. CM Punk is up next!
CM Punk V. Psychosis
Psychosis quickly realizes that his high flying tactics won’t help him, as Punk quickly ground’s the Luchador and employs a ground and pound method to keep him grounded. After a 5 minute struggle, Psychosis finally succumbs to the uranage/Anaconda Vice combo and taps out.
Cruise: Here is your winner, CM Punk!
Styles: And CM Punk advances to face you, Steve Corino in the next round.
Corino: Punk, for your own sake, stay at home. You don’t want be humiliated too badly next week.
Styles: I somehow doubt that’s going to happen. Let’s take it to Lillian.
Lillian: Hey guys. I’m here now with Teddy Hart and Harry Smith. Last week, you guys faced each other in a thrilling 15 minute draw. At the end of that match, Mistico and KENTA, under the guidance of Jim Mitchell, made an example out of you two. Your thoughts?
Teddy Hart: Lillian, what happened last week will NEVER happen again. Mitchell? You wanted to start a war? You picked the wrong guys to start it with.
Harry Smith: Teddy and I are officially reforming our team, and KENTA and Mistico? You two aren’t even gonna know what hit you.
Lillian: Back to you guys.
Jamie Noble V. Big Van Vader
Vader tears the much smaller Noble to shreds, hitting three power bombs on the former Cruiserweight Champion. However, when he goes for the Vader Bomb, Noble is able to roll out of the way. Vader crashes to the mat. Noble crawls over for the cover, but only gains a 2 count. Vader recovers and picks up Noble for a fourth power bomb, Noble rolls the Rocky Mountain Monster into a small package for the win.
Cruise: Here is your winner, Jamie Noble!
Vader sits in the ring stunned, as Noble rolls to the outside, battered, but victorious. Scott Steiner blindsides Noble and tosses him back in the ring. Steiner and Vader work over Noble, with Steiner holding Noble in place for a devastating Vader Bomb. As Noble is helped to the back, Steiner and Vader shake hands, as Steiner hands Vader a wad of cash.
KENTA’s music hits as KENTA walks out, accompanied by Jim Mitchell. KENTA steps into the ring, and Steiner stares at him. Mitchell steps forward and he and Steiner shake hands, as Steiner hands over another wad of cash. Mitchell mutters something to Mickie Henson and he and KENTA exit. Henson speaks to Bobby Cruise who then makes the following announcement.
Cruise: Ladies and gentlemen, Jim Mitchell has pulled KENTA out of this match. Therefore, here is your winner, Scott Steiner!
On the ramp, Styles catches up with Mitchell and KENTA.
Style: What just happened here?! What happened to standing up to those who oppose you?!
Mitchell: HAHAHA!!! Joey Styles, we aren’t idiots, and we aren’t greedy. Mistico is in the next round of the tournament. There’s no need for KENTA and Scott Steiner to face each other tonight.
Styles: So you just allowed yourselves to be bought off, because your other guy already won his match?!
Mitchell: Joey, I would be a fool to put all my eggs in one basket. Don’t you worry, I know what I’m doing! HAHAHA!!!
Corino: Well, I can see not wanting to fight Scott Steiner, but still. I do not approve of accepting bribes.
Nash: Y’know, I knew Scotty Steiner wasn’t the dumbest wrestler in the world. Why risk having to face a guy like Vader when you can ensure yourself a ticket to the semifinals just by spending a couple thousand smackers?
Corino: Well, I knew YOU would endorse such tactics.
Styles: Folks, our main event is next. The final first round match, Takeshi Morishima V. The Great Muta.
Takeshi Morishima V. The Great Muta
Prior to the start of the match, Mike Quackenbush takes a seat at ringside to watch the action.
Morishima and Muta put on a show for the crowd, with the fans oohing and ahhing every move. As the match draws to it’s conclusion, Morshima whips Muta into the ropes and catches him with a huge lariat. Cover, but only a 2. Muta gets to his feet, as Morishima prepares to strike again. This time, Muta ducks, and catches Morishima on the way back with a dropkick. Muta goes for a moonsault, but Morishima rolls out of the way. Muta crashes to the mat, and Morishima follows up with a backdrop driver to pick up the win.
Cruise: Here is your winner, Takeshi Morishima!
Quackenbush steps in the ring and shakes Morishima’s hand, only for Morishima to lay him out with a vicious lariat.
Styles: What the hell?! Mike Quackenbush was simply congratulating Morishima on a great match! That was uncalled for!
Nash: It’s called sending a message, Styles. Now Quackenbush knows that Morshima means business.
Jim Mitchell is in the ring. He hands Morishima the same wad of cash that Scott Steiner handed him earlier. Morishima leaves as Mitchell takes the mic.
Mitchell: Ladies and gentlemen. Mr. Morishima has graciously agreed to give up his spot in the tournament in exchange for a small sum of cash, and the first crack at the World Heavyweight Championship. Now, to introduce his replacement… KENTA!
KENTA and Mistico walk out to the ring.
Mitchell: I told you people I had a plan! Only a fool would come into something like this without a plan! And now, it’s only a matter of time before we controll the NWC World Heavyweight Championship! HAHAH…
Mitchell is interrupted, as Harry Smith and Teddy Hart run down and begin brawling with KENTA and Mistico. In the confusion, The Great Muta returns to ringside, and sprays green mist in Smith’s eyes. KENTA quickly hit’s the G2S on Smith, while Mistco holds Hart so Muta can deliver a Shining Wizard.
Mitchell shakes Muta’s hand as the vile foursome celebrates to end Crunch Time.
